Post 6: Internal Fitout.

Hi, welcome to our sixth of several blog posts detailing the construction of our brand new 8 chair purpose built dental facility. We’re now approaching the final month of construction. The plastering and internal painting is complete while the cabinetry, flooring and internal fixtures are in the process of being finished. Please see the photos below for a visual update.

Perhaps one of the major under-utilised design advantages of having a standalone building is the ability to have natural light coming in. This natural light is very noticeable when standing inside the building. Especially, when compared to the usual artificial light that most of our other surgeries have as they’re mostly in retail strips with a lack of windows. To any owners looking to build a standalone surgery please consider the placement of windows and achieving a good amount of natural light. There are obviously patient privacy factors with having windows directly into the surgeries. However, large glazed windows in the waiting room, staff room and hallways are very much acceptable.
